Mark Atalla serves as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Technology Policy/Deputy National Coordinator for Policy. Mark most recently worked on how artificial intelligence can support people trying to improve their health, and the broader theme of how AI and personal devices can work in delegated financial risk models. He also brings experience from working at a large, distributed healthcare organization operating 2,000+ clinics across the U.S., and from pharmacy leadership roles spanning the pharmacy benefit management, community, and hospital pharmacy settings. Mark previously served as a Senior Advisor at CMS, first leading Medicare Advantage and Part D work at the CMS Innovation Center—the Part D Senior Savings, Part D Payment Modernization, and MA-Value-based Insurance Design (VBID) Models—and later in the CMS Office of the Administrator.
