Molly Prieto serves as the Principal Deputy Director for the Office of Standards, Certification, and Analysis. In this role, she advises the Associate Deputy Assistant Secretary for Technology Policy on a variety of matters, helps lead interagency coordination efforts, establishes strategic priorities that span public health infrastructure and data exchange domains, and acts as a liaison with industry and other partners. Ms. Prieto works closely with OPOL on policy development initiatives that optimize public health IT and foster interoperability, as well as coordinates with the TEFCA team, federal partners, and state agencies to facilitate public health data exchange. She works closely with standards development organizations and provides leadership to the USCDI and USCDI+ programs.

Ms. Prieto is a seasoned professional in health IT with over a decade of diverse experience encompassing implementation, executive oversight, and policy development. Prior to her time at ASTP/ONC, Ms. Prieto was part of the U.S. Digital Service, where she worked on public health data infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing data integration, analysis, and exchange. During her service at USDS, she also contributed to the development of an HHS-wide data strategy. Ms. Prieto has also worked in a variety of implementation roles, including at an EHR vendor and at a Health Center Controlled Network (HCCN). At the HCCN, she spearheaded health IT projects for federally qualified health centers statewide, overseeing EHR implementations and developing a centralized reporting analytics platform. Her work emphasized process and quality improvement, practice transformation, and workflow design. Her subsequent roles in policy analysis and regulatory affairs at the American College of Surgeons and the Pew Charitable Trusts involved leading efforts to reform policies that advance patient care through technology and improve access to health data.

Ms. Prieto holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and a Master of Public Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
