Peter Johnson [Retired] has over 25 years’ experience as the Chief Information Officer for the Dartmouth-Hitchcock healthcare system. As Chief Information Officer, Mr. Johnson was responsible for all clinical, operational and financial systems. During this time, he oversaw numerous information system implementations, and successfully managed an Epic implementation, which was completed ahead of schedule and under budget.

Mr. Johnson wore several “hats” at Dartmouth-Hitchcock in addition to serving as the Chief Information Officer. During the last decade of his career, he served as Security and Privacy Officer and supervised all regulatory compliance in these areas. Mr. Johnson also served as President of Dartmouth’s professional liability re-insurance company. Additionally he was responsible for negotiating Dartmouth’s commercial insurance contracts. Dartmouth received national recognition as an “Accountable Care Organization” when it implemented one of the first commercial medical home demonstration pilots and was selected as a Physician Group Practice demonstration project.

Mr. Johnson’s strengths lay in his ability to align IT goals with the goals of the organization while reducing costs through identifying redundancies and improving contract strategies.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Dartmouth College and a Master of Business Administration from Cornell University. Mr. Johnson also served as faculty at the Dartmouth’s Geisel School of Medicine.  Additionally, he is a licensed Certified Public Accountant.
