For purposes of the Mobile Device Privacy and Security subsection of HealthIT.gov, an “organization” includes:
- The entity for which a health care provider or professional works
- A health care setting in which a provider or professional provides patient care
- The owner of any resources the provider or professional uses to deliver patient care
- The owner of any networks or systems the provider or professional uses to deliver patient care
Examples include a provider’s or professional’s practice, clinic or a hospital at which the provider or professional practices. Organizations range from small, private practices with fewer IT resources to larger health systems offering more technical guidance to their workforce.
