The creation of the Assistant Secretary for Technology Policy at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will provide a single point of accountability and help the agency grow digitally as it thinks of technology more strategically. Micky Tripathi, Assistant Secretary for Technology Policy/National Coordinator for Health IT and Acting CAIO at HHS, said the consolidation will allow the agency to place more emphasis on internal uses of AI as well as accelerate policies around tech and data. AI will not only help relieve employee burden and provide great opportunities to collaborate with industry, Tripathi said it will also play a major role in the U.S. Core of Data Interoperability (USCD) and Trusted Exchange Framework Common Agreement (TEFCA) when it comes to improving patient care.
