The grant comes from the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, under the Public Health Informatics & Technology Workforce Development Program. About $75 million was awarded to institutions across the country, with a goal of strengthening the country’s public health information technology capabilities and increasing representation of minority communities in the field. Recipients of the grants included historically black colleges and universities such as NSU, as well as institutions that serve Hispanic, Asian American and indigenous communities.
