ASC X12 members receive a discount of up to 70% off the cost of the Implementation Specifications and HIPAA Packages. These are purchased as PDF downloads, CDs and books. Purchases can be made for single users, five users, twenty users and unlimited users. X12 implemented a new policy in 2017 which will significantly affect the purchase cost of the guides. Annual Fee and Updates: If updates are necessary because of modifications to X12 work products, there is no charge for such updates. The initial purchase cost provides Licensee the right to updates and license to use the Product for one year. In successive years, an annual fee extends the right to updates and the license to use the product. This fee is calculated based on the entity's current membership status. Members pay 20% of the initial purchase price for members at the time of the extension. Non-members pay 20% of the initial purchase price for non-members at the time of the extension. The fee is not simply to receive updates, if the Product, or derivatives built based on the Product, are being executed as part of any organizational function the annual fee must be paid every year.
Test Tool Information:
Testing for all of the X12 transactions may be conducted at no charge on the CMS ASETT tool. The X-Engine Test Transactions tool allows all transactions to be checked consistently for compliance, syntax, and business rules. Validate transactions across various formats including X12 version 5010, ICD-10 diagnostic and procedure codes and unique identifiers. In the near future, the X-Engine will also have the capability for testing NCPDP transactions against the D.0 standard. There are also independent private companies that will provide testing services for a fee.
