Jason Funderburk, MD, MBA
Deputy National Coordinator for Health IT
Dr. Jason Funderburk serves as the Deputy National Coordinator for Health IT, at the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) in the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). He leads efforts to advance technology-driven health policy, with a focus on transforming how artificial intelligence enhances medical imaging to improve the healthcare delivery workflow.
Dr. Funderburk is a seasoned healthcare leader with more than 20 years of experience driving innovation and operational excellence across academic, private, and Veterans Affairs hospital systems. Previously, as Chief of Staff for the Salt Lake City VA Healthcare System, he helped ensure high-quality care for over 70,000 veterans each year while advancing informatics, clinical research, and regional healthcare operations.
Dr. Funderburk brings a multidisciplinary background that includes an MD from Louisiana State University School of Medicine, an MBA in Entrepreneurship and Innovation from NYU Stern, and a Master of Science in Bioinformatics from the University of Utah, enabling him to bridge clinical practice and strategic leadership in his daily work.
