Description

Identify targets and overall doses treated with the radiation therapy course. This supports systematic reporting what was done for treatment summaries. For example it enables identifying that the prostate received a dose of 7200 cGy. Where the prescription reflects intent, this element reflects what was delivered.

Use Case Description The AAPM Operational Ontology for Radiation Oncology ( https://aapmbdsc.azurewebsites.net) noted the need for standardized element for radiation therapy, including target dose information included in this data element. The data elements of this class are generalizable across all disease sites (e.g. prostate, breast, lung, gynecological).

Estimate of Overall Burden These data elements are expected to reduce burden. Typically, radiation therapy target dose information is shared between facilities upon transfer of care. This data transfer is not standardized and can result in rework and multiple submission to ensure all relevant information is included. Including these standardized elements should improve and simplify data sharing.
