ONC advances the nation’s health information technology (IT) privacy and security efforts and works to promote the secure adoption of health IT. Much of the privacy and security activities of ONC are rooted in recommendations it receives from the Health Information Technology Policy Committee’s (HITPC) Privacy and Security Tiger Team, a federal advisory committee to ONC. The HITPC has influenced HHS efforts ranging from policy-making and program funding terms to technical assistance and education and outreach activities.
