Dr. Anderson joined athenahealth in 2012.  He currently leads the Network Medicine Team at athenahealth where he is responsible for supporting athena’s ongoing relationship with all major medical specialty societies, as well as all guideline development and curation within athena’s EHR product.  In addition, Dr. Anderson serves as a supervisory clinician for the Patient Safety Team. He also serves as an expert clinician resource for our product development teams as well as athena’s solution design teams.

Dr. Anderson is a nationally recognized expert on the use of information technology in support of emerging CDS models and the provision of safe, effective, patient-centered care. Dr. Anderson has served on several national health information technology committees.  Currently he sits on the Institute of Medicine’s EHR Action Collaboration Committee, the ONC and NAM CDS Working Group, as well as the American Academy of Cardiology’s Diabetes Collaborative Registry Committee.

Prior to joining athenahealth, Dr. Anderson trained at Massachusetts General Hospital and practiced at Greater Lawrence Family Medicine.  He received his MD with honors from Harvard Medical School in 2005, and a BA in Social Anthropology, cum laude from Harvard College in 2000. Dr. Anderson has a passion for working at the intersection of technology, evidence based medicine, predictive analytics and healthcare.  Currently he lives in the greater Boston area, with his wife and 2 daughters.
