The Office of Management Budget requires that each applicant for a Federal award (grant, cooperative agreement, or contract) and each applicant for a subaward under a Federal grant or cooperative agreement obtain a Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) number. The DUNS number is a unique 9-digit number that identifies the physical location of a business or organization. As a result, an organization with multiple locations, such as a university, may have multiple DUNS numbers. You can obtain a DUNS number at no charge by calling 1-866-705-5711 or at http://ccr.dnb.com/ccr/pages/CCRSearch.jsp. To determine if your organization already has a DUNS number, you should contact D&B.
