The American Hospital Association Information Technology Survey tracks the different methods<\/a> hospitals use to engage in interoperable exchange with other organizations across the healthcare delivery system. Since 2019, the mean number of methods hospitals often use to obtain information has increased nearly 50%, from 2.7 (out of 9) up to 4.1 in 2025. The mean number of electronic methods (excluding mail, fax, eFax) increased by 68%, from 2 (out of 7) in 2019 up to 3.4 in 2025. The mean number of network-based methods (local HIEs, vendor-based networks, national networks) nearly doubled, from 1.1 (out of 3) in 2019 to 1.9 in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
