The Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act was passed as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) to invest in the U.S. health IT infrastructure. The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) received over $2 billion of these HITECH funds, which was granted to health and community organizations across the U.S. This data set provides the full list of ONC’s HITECH Act grantees. The data encompasses the five ONC HITECH Act programs: the Beacon Communities Program, the Health IT Regional Extension Centers Program, the Health IT Workforce Programs, the State Health Information Exchange Program, and the Strategic Health IT Advanced Research Projects (SHARP) Program. This data set includes geographic, federal funding, and grantee organization data. The data can be linked to other open data sets on the Health IT Dashboard and other sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Data Field<\/th>Data Description<\/th><\/tr><\/thead>
hitech_prgm<\/th>ONC HITECH Program \/\/ The HITECH Act program administered and managed by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC).<\/td><\/tr>
hitech_sub_prgm<\/th>ONC HITECH Sub-program \/\/ A secondary program administered through one of the core five HITECH Act programs administered by Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC).<\/td><\/tr>
hitech_prgm_website<\/th>ONC HITECH Program Federal Website \/\/ The official federal website for each HITECH Act program.<\/td><\/tr>
hitech_prgm_role<\/th>Program Grantee Role \/\/ The data set is organized by “Program Obligations”, “Recipient”, and “Consortia Lead”. “Program Obligations” refer to the total budget of the HITECH Act program. “Recipient” refers to the federal funding granted to each individual grantee. “Consortia Lead” refers only to grantees in the Community College Consortia Program. Five “Consortia Leads” received the grant funding for the program, and managed these funds amongst each individual consortium: A, B, C, D, and E. Therefore, there is not funding data for each individual community college participant; funding amounts are only provided for each “Consortia Lead”.<\/td><\/tr>
consortia_region<\/th>Community College Consortia Region \/\/ The consortium region for community college participants in the Community College Consortia Program. There are five regions in this program: A, B, C, D, and E.<\/td><\/tr>
grantee_name<\/th>Grantee Name \/\/ The name of the organization or state granted funds by the HITECH Act program.<\/td><\/tr>
federal_funding<\/th>U.S. Government Grant Funding \/\/ The total funds in $US granted to a grantee or appropriated to each HITECH Act program. These amounts are current, as of July, 2015.<\/td><\/tr>
region<\/th>Region \/\/ The region name for the data. This includes all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories.<\/td><\/tr>
region_code<\/th>Region Code \/\/ The abbreviation code for the region name. This includes all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories.<\/td><\/tr>
zip_code<\/th>Zone Improvement Plan (ZIP) Code \/\/ The system of postal codes used by the U.S. Postal Service to efficiently deliver mail. One or more ZIP codes comprise the areas of a county.<\/td><\/tr>
grantee_website<\/th>Grantee Website for Program \/\/ The official website for the services and\/or program initiated through the program grant.<\/td><\/tr>
