This brief presents the most recent estimates on the state of interoperable exchange activity among U.S. non-federal acute care hospitals, including whether hospitals have key patient information electronically available from sources outside their system; whether this information is subsequently used for clinical decisions; and barriers to the exchange and use of that information. .
