Want to make a difference?
Applications for Health IT Policy Committee and Standards Committee Workgroups are now being accepted

Are you interested in contributing to health IT strategy and policy, or to help identify which standards, implementation, and certification criteria are needed to help providers better use their health information technology? Apply to be considered for one of the ONC’s federal advisory committee workgroups now through ONC’s application database.

ONC is currently restructuring the workgroups of its Federal Advisory Committees (FACAs); the Health IT Policy Committee (HITPC) and Health IT Standards Committee (HITSC).  This effort is aimed at ensuring the work of the committees guide and aligns with ONC’s strategic direction and policy priorities into the next decade.  It also serves as an opportunity to support collaboration across the committees and to build on the workgroups’ diverse membership.  We are looking for new members that represent important perspectives and areas of expertise and add to the discussions by engaging in strategic, innovative thinking.

Workgroups typically meet virtually twice a month for at least three hours per month to deliberate and make recommendations to their respective advisory committees.  By participating in one of our federal advisory committee workgroups, you will have the opportunity to be a part of what has been called one of the most open and transparent External Links Disclaimer committees in government.

If you are interested in becoming a member of a HITPC or HITSC workgroup, please submit an application using ONC’s application database External Links Disclaimer.  ONC will use this database to identify and select members of the newly identified workgroups.  To be assured consideration, please apply by Friday, June 6, 2014.

HITPC workgroups

  • Health IT strategy
  • Health IT implementation, usability, and safety
  • Interoperability and health information exchange
  • Advanced health models and meaningful use

All committee and workgroup deliberations are held publicly, promoting transparency throughout their recommendations process.

We are extremely fortunate to have had the support of extraordinary experts who generously volunteer their time and expertise to better our health care system and nation’s health through the use of health IT and we expect this to continue.

If you are interested in joining this incredible group, please submit an application using ONC’s application database External Links Disclaimer. If you have additional questions, please contact Michelle Consolazio at michelle.consolazio@hhs.gov.
