The HIMSS conference provides an opportunity for the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) to connect with almost 30,000 health information technology (health IT) professionals, health care executives, and providers. &nbsp;&nbsp;As in the past, ONC will participate in the conference and reach out to all stakeholders closely involved in developing and implementing health IT solutions for our nation\u2019s health care providers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ONC plans to build upon this year\u2019s HIMSS theme \u2013 <em>Linking People, Potential, and Progress<\/em> \u2013 to discuss how innovation is leading the way to a higher quality, safer, and more efficient health care system enabled by health IT. Here are some of the events we will participate in at the conference:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul style=\"padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--40)\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Dr. David Blumenthal, the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, will share his thoughts about ONC\u2019s strategic efforts to advance the rapid adoption and the meaningful use of health IT during the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.himssconference.org\/education\/keynoteSpeakers.aspx\">Keynote Address<\/a> on February 23 at 8:30 a.m.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>U.S. Chief Technology Officer Aneesh Chopra will speak at the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.himssconference.org\/education\/sessiondetail.aspx?eventID=4453\">A Glimpse at Tomorrow\u2019s Technology Today<\/a>\u201d session on February 21 at 11:00 a.m. He will be joined by John Glaser, CEO, Health Services Business Unit, Siemens.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ONC will participate in a series of Pre-Conference Symposia Events on February 20, including a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.himssconference.org\/education\/sessiondetail.aspx?eventID=4419\">Physicians&#8217; IT Symposium Keynote<\/a> (\u201cCertification, Regulations, Certified Technology &#8211; A Discussion with ONC\u201d) and a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.himssconference.org\/education\/sessiondetail.aspx?eventID=4370\">Usability Symposium<\/a> (\u201cThe Strategic Importance of Usability in Obtaining Meaningful Use\u201d).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.himssconference.org\/education\/sessiondetail.aspx?eventID=4336\">ONC Townhall<\/a> on February 22 at 2:15 p.m. will feature an interactive session with ONC\u2019s Leadership Team to discuss current programs and efforts, as well as what\u2019s to come in the advancement of the national health IT agenda.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ONC will host Townhall Sessions, including:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.himssconference.org\/education\/sessiondetail.aspx?eventID=4497\">Regional Extension Centers (RECs) Townhall<\/a> on February 21 at 9:45 a.m.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.himssconference.org\/education\/sessiondetail.aspx?eventID=4318\">ONC Standards &amp; Implementation Framework Townhall<\/a> on February 22 at 8:30 a.m.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.himssconference.org\/education\/sessiondetail.aspx?eventID=4324\">Workforce Development Programs<\/a> on February 22 at 9:45 a.m.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.himssconference.org\/education\/sessiondetail.aspx?eventID=4355\">Certification Townhall<\/a> on February 23 at 2:15 p.m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<ul style=\"padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--40)\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>ONC will host a series of Education Sessions, including:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.himssconference.org\/education\/sessiondetail.aspx?eventID=4305\">SHARP: Vendor Engagement with Federal Health IT Research Efforts<\/a> on February 21 at 9:45 a.m.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.himssconference.org\/education\/sessiondetail.aspx?eventID=4331\">Regional Innovation Clusters: The Beacon Communities Example<\/a> on February 22 at 1:00 p.m.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.himssconference.org\/education\/sessiondetail.aspx?eventID=4488\">Evolving the NwHIN to Address Meaningful Use<\/a> on February 23 at 1:00 p.m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<ul style=\"padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--40)\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>ONC and the Centers for Medicare &amp; Medicaid Services (CMS) will share exhibit space #706 in Exhibit Hall A.
